Nicole Simone was born in Toronto and grew up in Southern California before returning to Canada in middle school.
In 2006, Simone stumbled upon a municipal pound in need of assistance. For 3 years she volunteered as a rescue coordinator helping to find dogs homes and rescue. She founded Unchain Ontario’s Dogs and petitioned local communities Simone has volunteered with a volunteer of not for profits. In 2014, Simone started Redemption Dogs, the critically acclaimed photo series showcasing and interviewing humans about rescuing dogs. In 2017 Simone founded Redemption Paws, a Canadian registered charity focusing on rescuing and rehoming dogs impacted by climate change and natural disasters.
Simone holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from York University and a diploma in Liberal Arts from Seneca College. Simone is an accomplished singer-songwriter, performing under the artist name Late July.
Simone is passionate about women’s health, film, music and Australian Cattle Dogs. She currently resides in Toronto with her two dogs Indie and Irwin.
